Who doesn’t love Paul Harvey, the sound of his voice, time travels me back to my childhood. He’s a master story teller, Christian, married 68 years, everyone loves Paul Harvey! We all waited for his famous “Good day!” or “that’s the rest of the story” on his radio show, so this blog over all is very positive about the man known as Paul Harvey. I’m not judging him as either being a christian or not. As far as I can tell he was a true believer.
Made up stories are fun and for the most part harmless, Paul could tell a story like no one else, but he wasn’t a theologian, a good story masterfully told that didn’t line up with scripture can misrepresent God.
Parables are difficult to write, each character must match perfectly to the intended person or deity we are to learn about. So without telling you the short comings of this story, listen carefully, pay attention to the positions applied and see if they line up with the biblical positions we find in God’s word. Listen also for any applications and see if they match scripture. Then post your corrections here, and may-be we’ll call you a theologian.
While Islam is often presented as a force for social justice in the West, the truth is that Muhammad bought, sold, owned, and traded black African slaves. Muhammad’s followers institutionalized black African slavery centuries a thousand years before the United States even existed. In this video, Sarah Foster educates Muslims about the history of slavery in Africa.
This is far more important than many believe, many think it’s ok to just draw lines anywhere they want, but this is so wrong. The idea that we can choose what is to be taken literal or not in scripture plants a seed that over time can completely undermine faith. We need to stand firm on what the word of God says, if we’re persecuted for it, made fun of, and hated…so what, Do you some how think you’ll have faith to die for Christ? But in regards to the age of the earth you cave in because you’ll be laugh at. If you can’t take persecution over God’s word in the form of laughter, how do you think you’ll stand in light of real persecution? No where in scripture do we see an example where compromising God’s word ends up converting unbelievers. Proclaim the truth, stand on his word, stop giving in to mans reasoning and believe what he says.
2 Thessalonians 2:8-10
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, 10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
Pastor Scott Rodriguez
Brothers, several have been asking for some backstory/context on these videos. Mrs. Muldoon set her tent up across the street from our church (it is still there until Sunday 5/20.) I received a call from one of our people that some families that attend our church were sitting in her audience. Others were there to pray and share the gospel afterwards with people leaving. They had been accosted by a young man named Devon, (the managers son) on the evening before when he overheard one of our young men talking with someone after the service about the call of Pastor being reserved for men.
I came out at the end of her Saturday night service and spoke with her, and her manager Dennis about their perspective on what had occurred. They felt that they were being heckled. I asked what they were preaching in order to get a better idea about their ministry, and explained to them that we, as a Gospel preaching church, would be extremely sensitive to a ministry that came off as strange as hers. She then claimed to be preaching the same message I described to her: that Christ came in the flesh to die upon a cross for the sins of man; that he was buried and rose again 3 days later; and that people are commanded by God the Father to turn from sin and put their faith in His Son’s finished work on the cross in order to be saved; and finally that there is no other way of salvation. She claimed that this was her message too, but that she also believed in miracles – which I agreed are still done today according to the will of God. I shared with her that if she would give me some materials to look over to her affirm her claims about her message, I would come back the next day and say a quick word to people from our Church about the need to refrain from being disruptive, disrespectful, and to hold any questions or disagreements until after her service to be voiced with her or her leaders. After some more discussion she said that would be acceptable to her.
I came back the next evening. She didn’t call me up as we’d discussed. Had she, I honestly don’t know what I would have said. I sat through about an hour of what I’d classify as normal charismatic preaching quite off-base, but nothing overly shocking. However, there was a transition after her message into various fraudulent acts of “ministering in the “Holy Spirit” that range from her laying hands on people who would respond by gyrating, shaking, screaming, flapping arms like being in a strong wind, knocking over chairs, throwing themselves down (not falling) on the floor. She prophesied over 3 girls that she said were seated where the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were, that would be getting married in June – she acted as if she knew nothing of their personal lives, but one of them was the attorney for the ministry that I’d met the night before – the other two were her friends. She said angels were there and that there could be voices of angels heard in her music because they followed her wherever she went. Then she scared a 3 year old little girl when she called her mother up – girl in arms, and began laying hands all over her body (the Mom’s).
Finally, I thought it was over, but she walked up to me where I was seated on the front row, and began “prophesying”. She said, “Young man spit your gum out and face me”. I got up (probably should have just walked out), and she began telling me how I thought I had come as a peacemaker, but was really there because God had used the hecklers to get me to her tent because He had something to give me through her. Then she went on and on saying all kinds of stuff, including that I said or thought that her ministry was a work of God, and that she was doing good and trying to help people. That was a lie. I never led her to believe any such thing. At that point I felt I needed to make it clear that I didn’t agree with her message or ministry, and that’s what I tried to do. Sadly I think it appears more as though some guy got in a prayer line or requested prayer and then seized on the opportunity – which isn’t true.
My greatest desire is to see God’s people warned, but I don’t feel I did things perfectly. Here’s why: I knew the right thing to do was to seek my Senior Pastor’s approval, but as a matter of convenience I did not. He is a man of God, and would have helped find a more godly way of approaching this, but in a moment of passion I acted and entrapped myself. Please don’t misunderstand, I believe once in the circumstance the worse thing I could have done is simply remained quiet, but I just feel as though Jesus would have done it differently. So while I stand behind my words to Mrs. Muldoon and would plead with people to flee from any ministry that replaces the Blood stained Gospel of Jesus Christ with a pursuit of miracles, I ask forgiveness of the Lord and my brothers for any way in which I got ahead of the Spirit of God or acted independently. Finally, please know that I’m not the bold man some think I am, I’m a man who is inconsistent and struggles with the fear of man like everyone else – we all desperately need the Cross, myself included.
P.S. I don’t use face book – maybe if people know that my wife can get some sleep.
The Full Video showing “Dayna’s” false prophesy concerning Pastr Scott, concidering she then rebukes him as a devil later
Well done Brother Scott, the events recorded here are a great way to see the deciption of false prophets. Do you know that if you speak for God, you can not get it wrong…. Deuteronomy 18:18-20
18 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers. And I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. 19 And whoever will not listen to my words that he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him. 20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name that I have not commanded him to speak, or[a] who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’
21 And then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. 22 For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible, the elect. 23 But be on guard; I have told you all things beforehand.
The Bible Belt could collapse as quick as England did in regards to faith. The southern culture for years has been polite and kind with a Christ as its back drop. So like england was what you were born into. So as Human secularist continue to push their world view that has as of late gotten much more aggressive, more and more young people who have grown up in the Church are rejecting their faith. Is the Church addressing the issue? Are they engaged in equipping their members to defend the faith?
The truth of the matter is, Jesus is not a cultural leader…he’s a King, so many of those who lived a kind of yeah “I’m a christian, I was born in the south” are exchanging the “Christian Culture” for a human secular one.
I can see it now, hell aint that bad, don’t worry the church just made it sound that way so it can control you… Revelation 20:13-15
13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Hell is real, it is not made by the church, its in the Bible, we are to take it very seriously… Matthew 5:28-30
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. The mission of the Church is not to save man from hell, it to set the captives free to worship God… Philippians 2:10-12
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. So let me make this conclusion long before this misrepresentation of hell is even released. The number one biblical issue that will continue to be reduced by man will be the call for repentance. If Hell is less of a concern, why obey? Party on mankind, after all hell no big deal… Luke 5:31-32
31 Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Repentance was a big theme to Jesus…
This went huge online…in one day over 2 million views! WOW People are looking for something, times are tough, So seeking they seem to go…but are they being honest with their quest? Finding vid clips online that give you a quick little insight that builds on how others have got it wrong, may be true, but if it just makes you have a momment superority as you look down on other who have behaved legalisticly….isn’t that feeling exactly what this poem is preaching against?
Overall I like this vid, but I hope it dosn’t simply build a new form of self rightousness that ends up emptying out Churches. So love Jesus…but don’t forget that he loves his bride the church too. Hebrews 10:23-25
23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
2/13/12 this video is now over 7 million….here is a response vid that makes some differant points worth hearing……..
Does God still judge nations? My first thoughts on this is No…because it seem to me that once Christ set us free to have a personal relationship with him, the need for a national identities is lost. Ideally if you belong to Christ, you are not a citizen of this world.
18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,
2 Timothy 2:3-5
3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.
19 They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. 20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?
BUT….After Watching this teaching about Harbinger I’m beginning to think God could be still in the business of Judging nations, I in no way think this is rooted in “replacement theology” but in “Patterns” Patterns are clearly seen in scripture: Isaiah 46:9-11
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned, that I will do.
So what do you think, is God using Islam to bring judgment on America?
This little cartoon really hit me square between the eyes…Yes I love theology! I love doing my best to get it right for God’s glory….Has this love gone to my head at times…you betcha…but God continues to pull be back to humility. He will complete the good work he started, of that I am sure.
So late at night I and many other believers spend countless hours correcting bad dortrine…Why? because we love the word of God and want the Truth known, correctly even on the internet.
