The Modern Strip Club, re-named “Gentleman’s Clubs” all cleaned up, with posh settings, and great food is not new at all. The degrading of women by having them treated like objects can be traced back though history all the way to slavery, which is to say from the dawn of Man.
This is perversion. A perversion is anything that is in rebellion to God’s design. God’s intention for women never included that they be reduced to objects of lust. God designed man and woman to desire each other. He created sex to be a beautiful, intimate act between a husband and wife. The effect on women is clear, but men, too, suffer because of this perversion.
“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shall not commit adultery: But I say to you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.” MATTHEW 5:27,28
This is a passage from the Bible. Many will discount what it says and say, “Oh, those against lusting are religious nuts.” This justification, like all justifications, fails to ask the question, “Is it true?” Dismantle your prejudices and look at all issues with an open mind. Are there measurable negative consequences for a person who lusts with their eyes? Adultery, the betrayal of the marriage vow, has many negative effects. Trust is broken. Jealousy, hate, rage and anger are experienced by the betrayed spouse. The adulterer, loses trust in himself or herself. Seeds of discontentment are sown in their heart, which may takes years to overcome. Some never get back to the feeling of being content with their spouse.
But what about for a person who is only looking, and not guilty of committing the actual act of adultery? What are the measurable negative consequences for a person who lusts with their eyes? Like actual adultery, a betrayal toward “women” occurs, a general sin against the female gender. This practice of reducing women to objects of pleasure in the hearts and minds of some men can lead to a rage against women because in reality they fall short of the man’s whims and expectations. Findings from the 1985 Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography confirm this fact and many others about pornography. The FBI and sociologists point to pornography as the one thing all sex offenders have in common.
Watch this excerpt from Dr. James Dobson’s interview with convicted rapist murder Ted Bundy:
Societies through the centuries have made attempts to stop this perversion, but the allure of easy money wins out. Like the tax on the poor known as the lottery, the state will also profit from this oppressive trade — after all, sex sells. This is the uncreative, tacky, lazy, easy way to collect permits, fees, and taxes. Then the state justifies this sin against man kind, by giving the money to some children’s program, so if you oppose the strip club you are against the children.
I’ve reported all this here without the specifics pertaining to the proposed strip club in the casino corridor. The names could be anybody, the details may vary, but we know what we know; this is a mistake that we can avoid if the citizens step up and take action against this type of business. Note what has already been said: “Public intoxication, fights, drug use and prostitution are law enforcement concerns associated with strip clubs,” said Sheriff Ron Pierini. “I think if this project ever were to go forward, certainly my recommendation, almost demand, would be that they employ a highly professional security team.” That’s the tip of the iceberg; this activity will damage people, it’s a known fact.
I want the readers of this to know that our Church’s attempt to stop this is not an attempt to impose our morality on others. Sure we are convinced that this is an immoral activity, but we also know from God’s word that we cannot legislate morality. Man’s fallen nature can not be legislated; it can only be changed by the supernatural intervention from God. The sins of an individual can be acquitted by God if the sinner is able to pay for his or hers transgressions. This payment was offered to man 2000 years ago by God’s son, Jesus, through his death and resurrection. God then imputed his son’s righteousness to anyone who repents and trusts what Christ did on the cross. God gives the condemned person a new heart, a new life, a new desire that matches his will. This new person now sees things from God’s perspective and begins to care about the oppression of others.
Lake Tahoe’s Casino Corridor is full of families. Sure, the casinos are not known to be kid-friendly, but the beauty of Tahoe brings families, too. So if you’re still undecided on how bad a strip club would be in here in Tahoe, just imagine having to read something like this in the Tahoe Daily Tribune: “Man charged in Oregon nun’s Murder had just left the only strip joint in Klamath Falls before he attacked the women.” A.P., September 3, 2002.
It will only take one strip club to draw into our community sinners of this kind…
