The Merciful Death of Sam Kinison

Sam Kinison, use to drive me nuts. How could this wretched sinner call himself a christian? Raised in the church, a former preacher, then a stand up comedian? Who drank, drugged, and womanized?…..But look at the mercy of God for his children even when sin abounds, Sam’s death was merciful, God’s grace for Sam was shown, through God’s discipline….                            1 Corinthians 11:29-32

"Sam Kinison

Wild Things are not beyond God’s love

“29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment. 32 Nevertheless, when we are judged in this way by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be finally condemned with the world”

So am I saying all those who just say they believe, can party on?  Dope not at all, it looks like Sam had a true relationship with Jesus. His inner self knew Christ, He never denied Christ, He maintained his belief in Christ to save him.  The account of his death, looks like he’s talking to angels or God, I believe their story, because of the deaths of Moses, Ananias, Sapphira and those in Corinth.  Think about it, Moses upset God by displaying anger when he struck the rock, this misrepresented who God is. So…

Numbers 20:12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”

Moses’s punishment is that he’ll die and not go into the promised land, When we hear promised land we often think “Heaven” why? because it is a metaphor for Heaven.

Where do we next see Moses?  The Transfiguration

Matthew 17:1-3  1 After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. 3 Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.

Moses was not forbidden entrance to Heaven, His punishment was to not get into the promised land here on earth.

Ananias and Sapphira, did they belong to Christ?  In Acts 4:32  it says “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.”   So in Chapter 5 the mention of what Ananias and Sapphira did includes them as believers, who choose to sin against the Holy Spirit.  Which is just another sin covered by the blood of Christ, but it was a Sin that lead to physical death.

1 John 5:16-17 “If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask and God will for him give life to those who commit sin not leading to death. There is a sin leading to death; I do not say that he should make request for this. 17 All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death,”

There is no absolute consensus on what this means. But, most conclude that there are sins that God’s Children can commit which God takes seriously enough so as to end their lives.

Amazing Grace, comes to mind when we understand God’s Love, Mercy, and Patience.
